Quieter western Kathmandu, out past the ring road in Chandragiri. Fewer places than the centre, but the ones here have space — gardens, greenery and room to sit for an afternoon.

Dense, busy and central. Long-running bakeries and everyday cafés that locals actually use, rather than places built for visitors.

The western edge of the valley, where the highway climbs out. Worth the trip for the views on a clear day.
